Depressing Dealer Attitude

Ths stand in Xant decided to start losing some coolant earlier in the week, but I was mightily relieved to find it was a straightforward case of time expired radiator (Bottom tube(s) corroded through). Duly shopped round for new rad -- in stock locally for £75 plus the dreaded, then decided I ought to replace the seal rings on the end of the top and bottom hoses -- they are the push fit type. Rang Citroen Birmingham and asked, out of curiosity, the price of a bottom hose, plus availabilty and price for the seal rings. Response ? ' No mate, to order only -- what are they off ? ' Xantia replied I --- ' Don't see those anymore' said the dealer -- and that was that. No volunteering of time scale; no effort whatsoever to suggest alternative supply. Utterly, utterly dismal.
By contrast, local Pug dealer, who didn't have stock, volunteered staright away that next local dealer did, plus volunteered supply by the afternoon anyway. What a difference. Don't these deadheads realise their attitude makes a real difference to customers' perception and inclination to give them any further business ?
