ABS sensor on a Renault Cleo

Hi All,
My grandaughter has a little Cleo 1.2 Ltr, 2003 vintage, and it's due an mot soon. She was in today to tell me that her ABS Sensor light come on when she is doing between 60 & 70 on the motorways, she spoke to her local mot station owner who said that it was an mot failure but I don't think that's right! When do the testers ever drive the car on test at 60 + MPH? I feel that now he knows of it he will tell her it needs some expensive work carried out on it.
Any ideas anyone, what type of lexia plug do'es it need, can it be tested like an XM to find what sensor is at fault? Any help would be appreciated.
Bob

Hi bob..
Does the light go out again after ignition off, and stay off when driving under 65mph???
IF the light is OFF during the MOT test its a pass, its only a fail when the light is lit during a test.
If the light is comming on over a certain speed, it sounds like one of the ABS rings is causing confusion for one of the sensors...
My Black Xantia TD does this, if i stay under 75mph the light stays out and the ABS works, however, over that and the light comes on and switches the ABS off...
PS: I ve no idea what diagnostics Renault uses, being as they are NOT part of PSA Pug Citroen, I doubt it will be Lexia either.

Renaults use Clip.
As stated above if the light come on with ignition and goes out on engine start then it should pass.

It sounds silly, but make sure all the tyres are the same size as any difference will be detected at speed.

Dieselman has a very valid point.
It is possible to get high speed ABS faults with a new and a heavily worn tyre across the same axle.

Fair points about tyres, but my Xantia tyres are good all round and I still get the light at 75+
My next thing is to check the Ring Teeth... I jaunt with Lexia should confirm... but its a good seed limiter for me..

What diagnostic tool is used on a Pug? I was hoping a Lexia but thats been ruled out. I'll need to get the car here to see if I can spot a fault but I have never worked on that model ever before.

Peugeots use Lexia Hardware, but have their own software called Planet Citroen..
Ive got that with my Lexia, as well as the Citroen software, Ive not installed the Pug software as I dont have any Pugs to play with.....

Thanks Paul. I'll try to find someone more local with that software!

Sorry. Forgot to say that the light go'es out when she switch's off, and when started up again won't come on till doing 65/70 again, I don't know if she could flick off/on while doing 65 to get it to stay off as I had to do with my XM some time back. And I can't drive itsy bitsy cars!
