I have just baught a Xm and will be getting it in a week.
I have always been safety conscience and driven volvos. I once got T-boned at 50kmh/35mph in a volvo 740 and walked away scratch free.
I was wondering what kind of safety features or crash test results (if any) there are for a s1 2.0 sei?
thanks,
rick

have you tried to find a crash test?

I find not having an accident helps greatly.

I know it has pre tensioners and abs but i was more thinking along the lines of volvos safety cage and side impact protection system.
Although what the Xm has over most cars especialy volvo is passive safety.
Very true that a safer car does not make a safer driver, but there is not oo much you can do when somebody runs a red.

In the 1998 EuroNCAP safety tests, the XM was reckoned to be one of the safest cars in its class – not bad for such an old design.

All (to my knowledge) series two cars have side impact beams built into the doors and airbag/s but the series one I had didn't. Yours being a series 1.5 could be similarly protected but I've not seen one of these with an airbag fitted.

Hi Colin.
You're right about the no airbag. But i think this one is a s1 RP 5062. It's registered as a 1991. also wondering how to tell which models came with a trip computer? and am i right in saying that all xm's came out with 15" rims?
I'm currently on holliday and wont get to see the car for another 2 weeks.
thanks,
rick

Confirming that my s1.5 rp6332 (1994) has impact protection beams on all 4 doors -and quite fat they are-.
Yes all XMs came with 15", and only 15. There's a thread if u search, listing the various wheel types available.

Hi all, side impact protection, or in Cit parlance "door reinforcement" was not a standard fit on S2's.If you log onto the sevice.cit site, input your VIN and select characteristics from the l/h list, then select "miscellaneous",you will find the vehicle specific details as to whether door reinforcement is fitted. In my case my '95 Excl. does, but my 2000 VSX does not. However, the 2000 VSX has side airbags and the '95 does not.

When I saw the thread title I thought it was about not going under hydraulic Citroens unless supported by stands....
