Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

The grill looks different, I thought the centre bar was missing, but it isn't.

I think poor video quality and the fact it isnt wearing a number plate throws you off a bit but it is the same MK1 grill, interestingly though the rear lights have been extended into the numberplate recess on the boot lid for some bizzar reason (its not like the XM is short of brake and tail lights) and of course the side lights have been added along with the strangest seatbelt setup i have ever seen
I wonder how this company importing XM's got away with the ground clearance laws in america? or do they not apply to cars imported on a small scale?

Some Euro XMs had the red extended panel on the boot lid, which makes the lights appear to extend right across. Its called a 'Trailblazer' panel I believe, Adrian Chapman had one on XM-L a few years back, and a few people were after it. It does look decidedly American, but I think it could be nice on the right car.

The front of that XM, I know the grille is missing a slat etc, but there seems to be something wrong with the headlights too, its like they're smaller, or not as angular as usual, they seem quite square. I just can't put my finger on it....

The seatbelt thing, a lot of American cars have them like that, attached to the door frame. You may have seen the cars with automatic seatbelts in movies, where the belt is drawn back for you when the engine starts, basically by that little fixing on the door top being motorised and sliding along a rail. Guess it means you've no excuse for 'forgetting' to put it on when the cops stop you, if nothing else

Cant say ive seen a trailblazer before, the grill slat is in place on the car in the video but it seems you are right, there is too much space between the headlamps and the grill opening, very strange, its like they have remade the grill with a smaller air scoop in it????

Clever design, The car applies the seat belt as you get in and close the door.
I'm surprised that our superiors in 'nanny state' Britain havn't insisted on this idea for British cars......

I noticed that the French company also has a different name in the US...........Citro-N apparently :D
I wonder if Pu-geots and Ren-alts are also available there.........

Owning an identical s1 black XM, I can see the grille is indeed altered -thicker sides that make for a smaller airscoop and the lights to appear smaller in comparison-.

I have such a red panel for the rear, bought it few months ago (new) from a french ebayer. Its' still in its package, if my car finally gets SORN, I may sell it.

bye all

Hi All

A couple of comments on the above:

The trailblazer was a standard Citroen extra available for the XM. Seem to recall seeing the odd car over here with one but they are not common. Surprised none of the dealers turning out bits has not found one to sell.

I think the EPA XM development book talks about different size front air vents to suit engine size.
