Citroen part numbers

According to Citroen they have been using new part numbers for the past 7 years or so which makes things a bit confusing when coming across old stock.

I found some new rear spheres for an XM, new genuine citroen but old stock. Part number is 96051827 which is an 8 digit part number but according to citroen they only use 5 and 6 digit numbers now.

Any idea how I can find out if its the right part. New part number for rear spheres is 527158 and front is 527144
