Pleiades Citroen
Rang these people today to order a sphere removal tool as I'd heard they did the best one to be told that they no longer make them as they didn't sell enough for it to be worth their while. They now just sell a train wrench (whatever that is)
I also asked about ordering 2 front spheres for my 2.5 and offered up the reg number & they said they didn't need it cos they're all the same which was a bit disconcerning. When I enquired further they said all they needed to know was whether it was estate or saloon. I said that I understood them to be different for each engine size and they said that they were only slight but they had them in stock for the 2.5 estate anyway.
I'm tempted to go to them for a fitting as they are only £26 fitted but worried about their ambiguous attitude to the right spheres to my car. Are they that different?
I think at £26 each fitted I should probably get all 4 done. The rear of the vehicle is performing fine but the date on the spheres is June 2005 so could be due for renewal?

I wouldnt worry, I think you will find that the "ambiguous attitude" is from many many years of experience!
I would trust what they say, martin has helped me out with unusual parts a few times and will always give advice if nothing else!
His knowledge of hydraulics is literally encyclopedic.

Yeah I have heard good things about Pleiades hence my posting here to double check. I'm thinking of just taking the car up and getting all 4 spheres plus accumulator replaced. How many spheres does an XM have, I read somewhere that it was 9?

Re: Pleiades Citroen
It varies but will be 8/9 i believe.
Mine has 8 as it is pre anti sink. But anti sink cars will have 9.
I think if DIY isnt your thing, £26 is not a bad price fitted.
If you get four done, it will just be the corner spheres, the others do affect the ride as well.

So thats the 4 corner spheres, anti sink & accumulator that makes 6, what are the other 3.
How often should those be changed?

Re: Pleiades Citroen
The others are the rear brake accumulator, and front and rear hydractive spheres.
How often they should be changed is a subjective question, and is where pressure testers come in handy! Perhaps pleides could test them?

Re: Pleiades Citroen
There are four corner spheres, two hydractive spheres, an accumulator sphere, and an anti-sink if fitted.
I make that 8 in total if anti sink is fitted.
