Re: Declare it Dead !
Norrie has just posted this on XM-L so I believe the recovery mission is still under way!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good afternoon gents,
Apologies to all for the ongoing Club-XM saga.
We have tried for some time with no success to recover the database for Club-XM. I have spoken to the site owner and he has agreed to send me a copy of the database on CD to see if I can attempt a repair first hand.
Unfortunately I have almost no SQL literacy. Until I receive the said database I do not even know for sure that it is a standard mdb database. I will give it my best shot but there is no doubt that it would fare better in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing.
This is a humble request to any IT guru's out there who would be willing to give up some of their free time to fix the corrupted database or at least extract the data. I would be eternally obliged for any help offered.
Needless to say, if either the data or the database can be recovered there will be a much, much more robust backup plan to prevent this happening again (how inopportune a moment to make such a statement given the curent debacle of our political classes !!!)
Regards
Norrie

Re: Declare it Dead !
HI,
Yep, I only saw that this morning, have replied saying I'm happy to help, and I believe one or two others have offered also.
I did also offer assistance earlier on Club-XM itself about 6 weeks ago when it was drifting in and out, though I'm not sure if Norrie was aware.
As I said initially, it does seem like a relatively minor table issue, at the very worst it can be recreated, and the non-volatile data manually added.

It will be great to be able to retrieve the info but equally would not like to see us end up with two Forums.

Re: Declare it Dead !
I can't see why there's such animosity towards the "old forum".
It can't hurt having plenty of model specific forums whoever uses/runs them!
There's more than one forum per model:
http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum
http://www.cxclub.co.uk/forum
http://citroenflatfour.freeforums.org
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/GSA-L
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/CX-L
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/XM-L
http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum
http://www.bx16valve.co.uk/forum
etc.

Re: Declare it Dead !
Exactly, there needn't be any animosity with regards to forums etc, I'm sure an XM owner with a problem would be happy to have multiple resources at their disposal, as with other models like you mentioned Andrew
