Speedo not working this morning

Post by SteveLP » Thu Dec 02, 2010 11:20 am

Speed stuck at 0. I hope it is just ice and it will magically unfreeze and work again. Really don't want to work outside in this weather.
Currently resorting to peering at the speed displayed on Nokia maps on my phone!
cheers
Steve

This is on my Series 2 - 1996. Logically, seems to also stop the trip computer working.
At least i can't cry at seeing the TCT only registering 30mpg (in fact 28mpg last time I looked).

Sounds as though it could be the sensor or attached plug/socket. Located on the diff housing just above where the o/s driveshaft fits in. The last couple I have had problems with have had dry joints on the instrument panel.

Cheers Peter

I'll have a look at the weekend. Need to fix it as I'll be blasting my way down the A30 all the way to Penzance sometime next week. Hope the snow clears!
What's it like around you? Taken any good photos?

Well it seems that after about 500 miles of the speedo not working ------ it just suddenly poped back into life.

Never underestimate an XM...

And self-breaking,mine did this for 3 months,on-off-on etc, then the cruise followed, that did it for me,replaced the speed sensor,no problem since.
