Who needs a CD player?

Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

Who needs a CD player?

Post by DerekW » Fri Jun 12, 2009 5:52 pm

Hi All,

My TCT estate doesn't have a CD player. After a recent troublesome trip with a nasty Evesham Nav-Cam which continually changed map screens and lost the signal, I resolved to find something better.

I've just received my new sat-nav from Hong Kong, £63 including postage. Ignore the facts that it has a 5" screen, runs my favourite nav programme - Igo8 and has lots of other goodies, the killer punch is that the supplied 2Gb SD card swallows my music collection and the built-in FM transmitter connects seamlessly to the radio. To use the vernacular, I'm "Well Chuffed"!

So to repeat my question, who needs a CD player?

Sounds interesting Derek.

How about some more details?

Was it an internet purchase?

Do you have a link to a website?

Totally agree Derek, digital media is the way forward.

I bought a headunit that takes SD cards and USB devices, and plays MP3, WMA etc.

Of course it'll take a CD also, but I can't remember the last one I put in it, everythings on SD cards, and if I get bored I just refresh them. Can carry a fair whack of them without taking up a lot of space too, is defs the way to go :)

Your one with the satnav sounds very interesting. I noticed my Garmin can display pictures and the like from a card, but the FM transmitter and ability to play music yours has is fantastic! Have noticed a lot of devices taking on multiple functions these days....

Hi Paul, it was an ebay purchase. Do a search under Consumer electronics for "5.0 GPS sat-nav", the seller's name is fancy_gallery.

There is one biddable one, currently with no bids, at the price I paid, £53.99 + £9 postage that runs out in about 18 hours. He also has a "buy it now" at £72 post free, so the price has gone up on that by £8 since I ordered mine 12 days ago. There's a full description on the item.

Thanks Derek.

It looks like a real bargain.

It's nice to find a sat nav that costs less than the car :D .

Gowd, tapes Tim! For a lad that used to record the latest charts off the radio and tape to tape
my own compilations, my ipod and iphone have been a whole moonshot shock to the system.
Dean, for something the same size as my wallet, with my iPhone I have my entire music collection
in nifty technicolour with coverflow yet also have my own mini video player and internet access,
a tidy camera for most tasks I want to picture and it also manages to allow calls too!!
