I remember watching that actual show when it was repeated (repeatedly! :) ) on Discovery and the like around 2001, just after I'd got my first XM (a 2.0i).
Back at the time there were no dedicated websites for it (why didn't I think of launching one? :o ), only mailing lists like XM-L and not much in the way of comprehensive pics etc, so I was utterly starry eyed when I saw that cracking green one with leather and the starfish alloys, it made me even more preoccupied with the damn things, and well... things progressed from that point and here we are

That Deals On Wheels show was well worth a watch, they actually delved into the cars in detail, and usually had one being sold on the show. I remember them doing a great piece about the SM, and there was at least one BX and a 2CV too. In fact now I remember it the BX used to feature in the end titles of the show for ages! :D

Later on that guy Richard (can't remember his second name) left the show and it was just Mike Brewer then, at that point the format changed a bit and it became somewhat more diluted, was renamed to 'Auto Trader' (think they might have run into legal trouble on that one  ) and focused on a 2nd hand dealership trying to work out the best of 3 newish cars for a particular person each week.
It lost its appeal slightly at that point, though Mike Brewer later went on to Wheeler Dealers, which has gone back down the lines of exploring and restoring older cars (including a DS), so its become somewhat interesting again.

Good times :D

That was great, especially the SM feature!! Gives Top Gear a 'run for their money' too in my humble opinion. Regards, Matthew T.
