Today we took a trip out to the Derbyshire caverns and as it was a nice day decided to give the mandarin Xm a bit of a run.

We went down Speedwell lead mine first then went down Blue John mine and cavern.

The Xm in the car park.

The hill Winnats pass rises over.

On the way there we passed Stanage edge,

drove through some lovely countryside which would be great for walking in.

Going down Inside Speedwell. You end up being 900 feet below the surface.

then the Blue John mine and cavern

All in it was an interesting day out and seeing as we were on Winnats pass already decided to give the old girl a bit of a run up the pass. This is a very steep hill, the gradient is 20% (1 in 5).

The moment of truth...

I forgot to check what pressure the Turbo gauge was showing.

Some lovely scenery Will, complemented nicely with the Turbo SD.

Lovely photos. Gem of a county with some fabulous spots. Was up the A6 out of Derby on Sunday and Matlock Bath was packed -- more atmosphere and scenery than most seaside places ever manage.

Mike.

I live on the edge of the Peak District so end up out there now and again. Some great scenery and places to eat. I like the run over the Snake Pass to Manchester that was my first drive of the first XM, out into Derbyshire and down to Buxton, up to Manchester then back home across the Snake.

Steve.

I spent my childhood living there (S10), probably not far from you, but it's years since I've been that way.

We went there many years ago in fact we have been to most places in Derbyshire as we have friends living there. It was always frreezing when we went walking until we went to a traction engine rally in Cromford one day and it was so hot we didn't know what to do with ourselves. Last time we went was to the Crich tram museum - lovely part of the country.

I've been to the tramway museum a few years ago and the Cromford steam rally a long time ago. Watching steam rollers making the cattle grid bow was interesting...
