I've just checked and it appears there are only 172 series 1 XM left on the roads out of 695 in total.

As its been advised before. I think the data on How many Left is a pinch of salt!

They said there were NO Talbot Horizon Diesels left, however, a nice one sold on ebay the other month.. I still beleve theres more then we know.. Not possibly a lot more, but a couple more...

The information on How Many Left is a direct extract from the registered vehicle details at DVLA. There may be inaccuracies in SORN data as that only came into force in 2007 (iirc), but the actual taxed cars is very unlikely to be wrong.

I downloaded the data myself last quarter, but can't be bothered this time.

The figures for Talbot Horizon show 32 on the road and 63 SORN, only one diesel.

I agree Paul. They also have a habit of making up models and specs too.
Am I right in thinking Citroen sold 22 thousand XMs in this country in total...or have I got this very wrong?!

They don't make up any model codes, the application uses the model codes assigned by DVLA. It was true that not all cars were coded correctly, but DVLA have cleaned up their database very well now.

Have they, im not surprised. Practical classics mag used to run a 'How many left' on certain models, and they used to find some strange anomalies. Specs or models of cars that have never existed...mind you it was only one or two incorrect entries.

172 Mk1 Xm's. Not sure if I like that or not. Makes our mk1's rarer still.

That´s a bit demoralising. My UK-spec car is dependent on the existence of a reasonable number of donor cars. Thank you Citroen for not making spares available. The pinion valve, for example, is a UK spec item. I suppose in the coming years I´ll be shelling out on getting stuff remade and reconditioned. On the plus side, as noted, we won´t lose our XMs in the car park (unless we can´t see them because they are lower than everything else).

I've lost mine in a car park a couple of times for that very reason.

Mine tricks people in to thinking there is a space in the road. The disappointment and bemusement when they see this low, sunk, sleek wedge in the way!

I like having a rare car too, they always spark some sort of interest for someone.
