And mine Paul will join yours in around 5 weeks time and bump the S1 numbers up by x 1 ;)

Might be one less Series 2 if I can't find a replacement working Bendix ABS sensor.

Front or rear?

For the front try a Saxo front.
Need to modify the polarisation on the blue connector.
For the rear again try a Saxo disc brake rear NOT drum braked.
Need to change the plug and add a bit to the lead length.

Will post ebay items when I get the chance.
Those sensors are around £ 15 a time.
Front Citroen part no. 4545.57 - ebay item 321003857364.
Rear Citroen part no. 4545.81 - ebay item 281352431037.
Avoid Rear for drum brakes Citroen part 4545.58
Check the text and the photos drum one has a large square coil projection (10mm), disc ones small projection (2mm).

None of these are yet car tested but I think they offer a high chance of working.
Mechanical fit and orientation of the sensors is identical to XM's.
Saxo uses Teves Mk4 ABS as do the later XM's.

Teves XM sensors are still available correct wire length and fittings but will just need polarisation removed to fit the blue plug in the green Bendix socket.
They will set you back £45 each.

Best advice I read in ages! How about the Peugeot 406 ones?

Hi Japp

Send me a pair of 406 sensors (front & rear) and photos of their mounting and I will check out the suitability.
From the information I have got so far I think the chances are low.

Obviously, I don't own any...because I don't own a Peugeot. Yet.

I did read in the Citronian that some one had success fully tried this on a 'Bendix XM'. I thought that to be very hope full since they are still available . If needed I am willing to buy some and try them in my rear -second hand by the way- sensor. I know I will be able to easily swap now, because of the recent fitting with copper grease. If not, it'll be my loss, won't it? I do remember some modification for the right fitting is needed.

Hi Japp

I understand the Citroenian man used Cambiare VE701066 non original Pug 605 sensors.
They were NOS items on ebay about 2 years ago.
Seller had 4 in total and I have the other two here.
Seller could find no further stock in the UK.

The Saxo/Pug 106 ones only arrived yesterday but other than leads they look identical to XM teves.
They are available in quantity at around one third the price of XM Teves sensors.

Just also been sent by Chris a sensor supplied by Rapid Electronics.
Arrived today but looks very interesting and costs less than £10.

I now no longer think that ABS sensors will be a critical issue for XM's long term.

Sounds good John. Good research, especially the ones for under a tenner.

Worth someone buying some to try.

Excellent news John! I volunteer for trying this out if needed on my cars, if you like.
