Aftermarket Dual Mass Flywheels

OK -- Not relevant for the XM, but as many of us now have later PSA models with these silly flywheels thought it might be useful to note QH have introduced aftermarket ones, so we're not entirely stuck with dealer prices.

Do they not also make solid replacements?

Hi Peter.

Not to my knowledge. I do wonder whether you can use, say, a solid 306 flywheel on a 307. Bet the sods have done something to stop you !

I think they do solid ones for all the DMF cars. That seems to be what everyone recommends and what lots of garages do when one needs replacing - put a conventional one on instead and it won't fail again. In fact it seems to be the recommended thing to do if you are ever in that area even if it doesn't need replacing - not that many people find they have to have the box off for anything else before replacing it.

When I first read the title I thought you were trying to see if one would fit an XM

I'm sure I read that Valeo were going to produce them. Have a look on their website. There must be a very strong reaction to them because more and more companies seem to be producing alternatives.

Solid flywheels are available for DMF cars, or some atleast. My C5 2.0HDi has one fitted, i think it was fitted at 68K miles and its still fine at 115K miles.

I think its a Valeo one, much cheaper and more reliable to replace with one of these.
