Where did my XM take me today?

Off topic chat about anything you like. Doesn't have to be about XMs (though they will inevitibly come up!). You can even discuss non-Citroens :o in here!

Where did my XM take me today?

Post by turbo_imp » Sun Mar 17, 2013 9:28 pm

Hi guys,

After getting up at 5am to watch the opening GP live, I tucked the wife up on the sofa to relax I packed my bag and wafted over to Mallory for the opening round of the BDRC and SELOC sprint championship. Michelle was not pleased missing it, but being 8 1/2 months pregnant she really needs to rest rather than sit in the cold all day!

I arrived at 9:30am and the sun was just poking through the clouds, looking like a nice day. I strolled down to the pits before the sighting laps took place to scope out the competitors.

Owner of Dialynx was driving this one -

Good mix of cars running!

Then as the sighting laps were completed I strolled up the hill, picked up my chair from the XM and set up camp near the hairpin. At this point it had started to drizzle, not so bad. Eric's Clan has had a bit more development since I last saw it, now 1000cc with bigger injectors and a more manly fuel pump. Even with the old smaller injectors and running out of fuel pressure it was making 170bhp at 15psi, it just shows how efficient the imp head is.

Then the drizzle turned to sleet, and the sleet to light snow, and the light snow to HEAVY snow. It was getting silly with cars lighting up the tyres left right and center, then locking up into the hairpin, a couple of cars went straight on too.

This 205 was QUICK, it was shared between two drivers one set FTD later on, the other one crashed it, twice, in the same place ::)

More snow

At this point the snow got so heavy that they called an early lunch, I was sure they were going to cancel the day so jumped in the car and drove home to walk the dogs, check on the wife, and eat lunch. At 2pm I popped back over to Mallory as the sun had come out ::) racing back on again! I did not get many pictures as I was chatting to a Father and Son who were building at 205 sprint car, of course I extolled the virtues of RRG2013 and how they should bring it along :D
The day ended at 3:50 when the really very nice Turbo Technics Sierra, driven by the 69 year old owner of the company, had a BIG crash at the hairpin. The drying track had bolstered the drivers confidence and he was carrying a lot of speed. I am unsure if the lost front wheel was the cause or result of the incident, not nice though.

All in all a brilliant motorsport day, good way to kick off the year :)

Hope you all had a good day too.

Looks like Mallory was a great way to spend the day James. Some really interesting stuff there. Shame the weather was a bit off...

Mine did, went for a ride in the rain. Gave it a wash and perhaps washed all the salt from underneath..

Thanks guys, the XM was faultless :)

I noticed at least 5 people stop and look at it in the carpark, seems it is a bit of a talking point!

It was a brilliant day, would only have been made better by the addition of wife, but she was better off at home :)
