My later car has the description "Cobalt" as the paint code in the service book, but today I have found that paint code ENT is listed as Bleu Sideral.

Does anyone else have paint codes that have more than one apparent name?

Yes. I have found this issue too.

Mine is ETC. So far I have found it is called Anthracite, Basalt and Titan grey. ;)

Some seem to have both an English and French name...

Like Dantes' Red is also known as Rogue d'Enfer

Will, ENT is called 'Cobalt Blue' for the British market and 'Sideral Blau' for the German market !
Heres the GLASURIT Colour-Online to check it out (Don't forget to 'Hover-over' the Colour name after you've got the search results to confirm the /\ ;)

But you'd could have easily checked all this out if you'd opened up my posting in the 'Technical Section/Bodywork &Trim' COLOUR & TRIM SPEC. !

Thank Richard.

At some stage I had seen the paint colour listed as Cobalt, but then got confused when I could only see it listed as Sideral recently.

It is so hard to determine the exact colour for my S2 2.0 16v SX Hatch - its 1995 (R) and Red, but which one? The sticker in the drivers door frame does not have the paint code... My secondary query, what's the best way to fix peeling lacquer - I have it on door mirrors and around sunroof?

XM paint codes move with time.
89 - 97 on the chassis behind the passenger (RHD) headlight.
98 - on the chassis in front the passenger (RHD) strut head.
99 - 00 drivers (RHD) door label.

Interestingly my 1989 V6 has the paint code directly underneath (not below) the air filter box, which therefore has to be removed to check!! I think it might be a quirk of the very early production date being the 999th XM! Regards, Matthew T.
