Just wondered why there's not much traffic on Noz xm site anymore? Has the better product come through? Apple/Samsung ,Burger King / McDonald's. Pepsi/coke.

For whatever reason from some time ago activity seemed to be diminishing as this site became established. I was also severely reprimanded by Noz for daring to mention other sources of assistance and I have not visited since. Regards, Matthew T.

This site was setup due to the other one being down for 18 months.
As you said, it's survival of the fittest. This is by far the busiest site for XM.

Yes I remember reading that thread Matthew. Funny how there can be divisions on a car which is owned by so few

Originally the Club-xm.com WAS the only active XM Site.
Then there was a change in the SQL database software which caused a crash. Noz wasn't so clued up on it and unfortunally couldn't fix the issue.
This led to this .co.uk site originally being setup. However, in the time that .com was down this site grew quite quickly and gained a lot of info..
In the mean time, when I was working, I colege at the time who was a programmer Wiz, saw me looking at the broken web page.. After 3 mins of looking at the error message he said to me, "I know what the Error is, and Im looking at the problem!"
I actually acted on his words, and contacted Noz to tell him what the issue was. They conteacted each other and we are where we are.. so it IS actually MY FAULT that we ended up with Two Fourms..
Theres still a lot of good and important info on the other site.. But thats the Jist of it really.
(Not sure if Ill get shot for that little write up, if I do, then I do)

I found the information on the website around the forum rather negative and a little aggressive. It seemed to warn you against owning one rather than supporting owners or advising potential buyers. Wether this was intended to be a realistic apprasal of the XM or not, not sure....I haven't joined for that reason.
Interesting to know the history about the two forums. Although I did know this one was set up because of the other going down for 18 months.

This post needs a few facts added to give the whole story.
The original Club-XM.com was set up, owned and funded by Chris Light.
He dealt with all IT issues and site running.
Noz was the moderator of the site.
The site grew well and was a very useful XM technical resource.
Once Chris Lights interest moved on from XM's the site ran for some years without problems.
Chris maintained the site and his sole rights to ownership of the content.
Then the site IT progressively corrupted until it failed completely.
At this point Noz as a moderator had no copies of the site data and no recent contact with Chris Light.
So Noz had nothing in his possession to rebuild with.
This was particularly galling as the actual IT corruption was minor and easily repaired.
Unfortunately Noz did not have any legal right to rebuild the site because Chris Light owned and retained the site, programme and all data.
Noz tried to make contact with Chris Light to obtain rights and data to rebuild.
This proved to be a very difficult task.
It took Noz well over 18 months to gain rights and physical website data possession.
Noz then fairly quickly arranged the website repair, financed rehosting and the site came back live.
By this time Ciaran had us up and running on here for nearly 2 years.
Ciaran claims no ownership of the content.
He just funds a working site and we are currently disscussing secure duplication of the data.
The original intention was that this would be a temporary site until .com came back.
Then the data would go over and this site close.
The reason this did not happen was the legal issue of ownership of data.
As Chris Light did previously Noz now owns sole rights to the data on his site.
The data here is owned by the members.
The moderators decided they could not legally transfer that data to a sole rights site without the agreement of all posting members for their individual data.
If we put that to the vote we would have to remove the data of any dissenting or non responding member before transfer.
It became clear that any transferred data might well be fragmented.
The work to do this would be immense.
We would also have no control over how much Noz would accept and display.
So we continue as a seperate site.
