Fuel filter question

This is a potentially dumb question coming from me and being about parts :P but anyway....

Ive never had to change the fuel filter on my 2.1td, so don't know if its an element inside the silver purflux housing, or if the canister is the filter...

The reason I ask is my purflux housing is looking tatty and I wanted it to look new again....Ive seen some cars and their look new so where can you get them from?

Yes I know I run a parts supply branch...but AP aren't very good at old Citroen stuff ;)

There was a company on ebay selling them, but they are about £70 I think. I got lucky with mine. £15.

The other answer is yes its an internal element and theres about three seals that you change at the same time. Nothing like the nice xud xantia filter house....

Gettng a new canister might be a right challenge now but its also fitted to other older dervs too.

To be honest Vince, unless the canister is all rusty, I think you might be able to polish it up.

just checked on service citroen th part No. for a Purflux filter bowl which is 1911 33,

you could do a gooooly search to see if there any NOS out there

i have got a source of primmer overhaul kits if any one has a failed one,
and will sort them for a fee,

but i think in my research the alloy can/bowl in NFP even from Purflux

That is interesting Malcolm...I have a spare complete purflux filter with shot seals, it gave up on me in the spring. So i might need to pick your brains over that one. Might quite good to have a spare ready to go.
