Hi,
Does anyone know what the difference between Y3 model and Y4?

I thought it is simply the model and production ID codes...So for mk1 1989 to 1994 - Y3 and mk2 1994 to 2000 - Y4. Differences are quite obvious. It might also mean the introduction of Hydractive 2 suspension system.

If not ...I am sure someone else can elaborate!

Y3 is series 1, Y4 is series 2.

It is Citroens official designation for the specific XM types.
You will find it as part of the VIN.
