Love the contrast, does make the interior look more special. And yes, cream leather is a pain to keep clean. C5 suffers, especially the door cards.

That's because you always have dirty hands from playing with that XM ;)

In case anyone missed it, this went back up on eBay very recently, at £1700...

My Dad bought it.. It's a forum car again! :) .. He had a 93 K plate NA 2.0i when I was still a teen living at home and it was still a Citroen forecourt used car, neither of us ever shook the XM bug and it came to a point where Dad no longer needed a company car.. so, naturally... XM (after viewing a C6 that was a bit of a let down)

The S1 v S2 thing... I'm conflicted.. I prefer the S1 nose, more like the original intent.. and the S1 spoiler is cool too.. but it's not "original" now, is it.. Hmmmm..

Also, oddly, the side glass all has the wrong reg plate on it? I've been informed the quarter lights are bonded in, so does this mean it might have had 4 doors too?

The ebay ad reads 88k but the speedo records 60 something, as does all the history.. So it seems the car is a little mysterious, however, it IS still lovely and it's our absolute intent to freshen it up!... EDIT: been informed of a odometer change early on in it's life, so that all makes sense now.

So, don't worry, it's in good caring hands again... and it's not got far...

Rob (and your Dad!), welcome.

Rob (there are a few of us around) good practice is to start a separate thread for the car so you can keep everyone updated and post some photos of the lovely cream interior to make Russ jealous!!!!

More likely that the plates have been changed, maybe a private plate transfer some time in its life.

Great news Rob! Glad it has remained in the Xm community. £4K down to £1700. Bargain! ... I have seen this car in the flesh and it is lovely. Yes that cream interior is wonderful, but I know what you mean about the S1 S2 mix up. It works, but it's odd at the same time!

As other Rob says, plenty of pics please. :D

I get your thinking.. but it's the wrong way, can't put an M plate on a J plate car, well... not legally.. It's definitely an S2 as the dash is S2 as well as those pics at the top of this thread.... I guess unless original Rob can explain from his ownership we'll never know what happened there... Unless you mean it had a J plate put on it and someone went to the extent of changing the glass.. can't see that happening though... Last owner doesn't know why they're like that.

The S1 and S2 doors are the same, aren't they?

I'll be sure to start a thread once it's back at the folks and can get some snaps.. no one likes a thread with out pics so I'll wait ;)

Welcome to the Forum and XM ownership Rob and the only difference with the doors is the front quarterlight glass bottom black painted surround is deeper to match the revised card design. Regards, Matthew T.

I suspect the car had a personalised plate put on it and the glass security etched with that number.

S1 and S2 doors differ in so much as S2 doors have side impact bars built into them.
