The test was over quickly, so I thought it had been aborted. It was a relief to get the clean pass sheet.

Hi all, yes, it's always a relief, but what a difference having an open relationship with your MOT inspector. A normal fail item can be "adjusted" to an advisory if a level of trust exists between you and them on whether you will carry out the necessary work. 17 years of xm ownership 13 of them with the same examiner, he will tighten the odd nut or change a bulb, or take it on trust I will replace a corroded pipe. Certainly takes the stress out, but, just waiting for the big fail items now as age advances, hope I find them before he does.

I have this good open type friendship with my mot garage with the tester and the owners who have known me for years..

my hdi xantia has had a leak at the back despite having the part to fix it the tester said ahhhh a leak not worried about that with yours..

I've been using the same testing station for over 20 years. He's very harsh on steering, suspension and brakes, and easy going on the rest. He doesn't suffer fools but is quite willing to point out what will need doing in the near future. Hence swmbo's Saab failed on a broken spring on the Monday, had it done and back to him for Wednesday. Pass certificate without worry.

Daughters Corsa goes in next week and Xantia next month - both will pass. XM will be in before Feb's out, that's going to be interesting as he can't wait to see what condition it's in. He says he hasn't seen one for years. :o
