Need help/advice to keep my VSX alive

Hi people
VSX needs o/s strut top mount, tranverse exhaust box and two headlghts for mot. Front brakes need doing too but thats not an issue apart from cost.
Garage is willing to try some brighter bulbs n the lights to see if that does the trick. The get quite dusty inside and are not bright enough apparently. Anyone tried the brighter bulbs trick? Success?
Strut top and tranverse box don't seem to be available anymore.
Doubt I could afford new strut top mount and headlghts even if they were available. It picked up an advisory last year for slight leak no worse this year no lhm topping up needed all year but its failed this year.
any advice or leads on parts appreciated
regards

On bulbs, I cleaned my headlights inside and out, which helps, and fitted GE Megalight ultra 120s (120% brighter than standard 55 w dipped bulb), similar to the top Osram Nightbreaker plus, and also look up peroxide treating your fresnel lens here. My black xm bulbs weren't correctly seated for the MOT but the garage just mounted them correctly and the output was no problem - it does make a huge difference.
Others can opine on the strut tops!

your dull looking lights is more likely be the plastic inset inside the headlamp, its easy to get at them, remove head light from car around the edge of the glass are metal clips to keep the glass in place (spring clips) remove those and the glass should full off, just inside you see the plastic inset on the corners is retaining spring plastic (before removing the plastic inset take note how the plastic is fitted as this plastic directs the light beam at the right angle) this can be replace or it can be cleaned but careful with what you clean it with wrong chemicals and it will ruin the plastic, there are cleaners that you can buy for this job

Tim, why are you trawling that 'Waste of space'
(Facebook) site for info on XM's
When its all on here, the
SEARCH facility
is your friend
The strut top problem has been discussed both on this forum and (Noz's) for many years and 'KINGAS' has come to the rescue for refurbishment of your existing strut top.
I take it you've not got a spare failed unit to send out to them, so as to keep yours on the road whilst waiting for them to be re-furbed , it doesn't matter which side its from as they can make the refurb unit to suit either side during the process (You just need to inform them which side you needing when placing the order) !
You also need to go thro' the check list parameters which can be found in the thread below annotated
'Postage' below if you were looking for a good S/H unit to fit straight onto your VSX (or if it was failed unit to send out to 'Kingas') so that you get no nasty surprises when you come to the actual 'Fit' on the one on your vehicle (As has been the case with some members in the past) when searching for 'good used' ones I note your VSX is a TCT on 'R' plate
which normally would have had the larger strut piston/rod size dia. of 25mm (But you need to check to be 100% sure) !
As there are many threads which you may want to read thro' however,
THIS is the main thread by 'Kingas' with the offer of this unique service for XM owners, also there's a couple threads which discusses the
COURIER - and -
POSTAGE costs you need to consider when sending off the too old units too !
I hope this may be of help !
