On the road again

Hi All,

The XM is back on the road again and I'm not convinced she's riding like she should. The pump makes this strange rattling sound at idle, well it seems to be coming from the pump. I'd like to build a gauge for checking the output from the pressure regulator, unless this is correct I could be chasing my tail trying to sort out the ride quality. There's a video on youtube of a pressure test, has anyone else see it?

Steve.

Yes DM, that's the one, the AFTER video seems to show a slower rate of pressure loss too.

The relief screw wasn't open as much.

Another job that needs tackling is a thermostat change, she's only just getting 'on to' the temp gauge.

That's a bit daunting if you haven't done one before as you cant see it but once you have the bolts undone, not to difficult.

Thanks Peter, I've read a couple of postings by different members and so I'm not too worried. I've got a 1/4" socket set as recommended. The XM is up in the air at the moment because of a LHM leak from the regulator return, the small rubber pipe has failed in such a way that I need to replace it. The only listing on eBay is £15 so I'm going on a virtual search for a cheaper part. I think that either the pump and/or the FDV is/are playing up too so it maybe time to replace these if I can find the parts.

I hope you're keeping well?

Steve.
