XM Wheel hub camera

As I often use my XM as a video camera platform, I had a 'what if?' type moment some time ago and decided to put a camera on the actual wheel. Every person and their dog puts cameras on the tops, sides, or underneath a vehicle but as no one has put one on the actual wheel (while keeping the camera steady) I came up with this. Got issues with oscillation due to air flow around the camera but at least it's a proof of concept - which is what I was aiming for. Second prototype will have damping and stabilisation.
Wheel trims on my XM are a real pig to remove so knew there wasn't a risk of it falling off. Video on my youtube channel.

Gosh, an "unsprung camera"! Suggestion: The camera is very lightweight, on a very free bearing, and prone to swing. Try adding a length of bar, or a heavy-ish metal plate to the inside edge of the camera (i.e. between it and the wheel trim) to add some inertia, and stop the rapid rotational movements. You certainly got the centre of the wheel trim exactly right!

I will certainly give that a go. Cheaper than making a motorised gyroscopic mount. :)
