Why an XM beats a Xantia any day at the important stuff

From a poster on my wine enthusiasts forum, talking about the best cars for transporting wine.

"I may have told this story before but this thread reminds me of my first ever visit to Henri Goutorbe in Ay. We had finished our tasting and were placing our order and, being very close to lunchtime, old M Goutorbe turned up for his glass of Champagne. I had a Xantia Estate at the time and he pulled up in an XM and parked beside me. He wandered into the office took a look at me, then a look at the Xantia, and looked back at me and nodded towards the car. "Combien des bouteilles?" he asked me. "Cent quatre-vingts", I replied in my pidgin French. "Ah", he said "L'XM. Deux cents cinquante" as he downed his pre-lunch Champagne and wandered off towards the cellar.
It was a brilliant moment of car trump."

I'm sure one of the 70 would be left, after all nothing beats a good Soixante Neuf...

A wine carrying capacity is of no consequence to me but engine transporting capacity is...

Both the Xantia and XM estates will swallow an ES9J4 complete with gearbox but the XM can do it without needing to fold the back seats.

Therefore XM trumps Xantia!

I think you'll find the Xantia only needs the back seats down (as does an XM) if you're transporting the crane with it.

Jim, this is Page 1 of the WFA Manual ;)
