Hi all,
I have a 1997 2.5td Exclusive and need to replace the front brake pads, but I don't know which type to get, Bosch or Bendix? I thought I had Bosch but on some parts finders websites it suggests not.
Any ideas?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the pads are the same which ever system you have, I don't know if they ever changed the design over time but my 2.1s have had the same pads for most of the life of the car.

Three types of front brake caliper each with its own type of disc and matching pads.
Have previously written up the details on here and on the other XM site.
Very early XM's have 22mm thick dia 276mm discs. (d = 116mm).
Most XM's have 26mm thick dia 283mm discs (1991 to 2000). (d = 119mm).
A very few late V6 and 2.5 XM's only have 28mm thick 288mm dia discs (late 1997 to 2000). (d = 158mm).
Distance "d" is the dimension between the centres of the holes on the outer ears of the pads.
All 3 types of caliper are made by Bendix none by Bosch.
Measure the diameter of the existing discs to check on type fitted.
Get the "d" dimension checked by any pad supplier.
