link works ok for me, it doesnt take a genious to work out this sceme is about as usefull to the needy as a chocy teapot and is just the government wasting money they dont have with stupid crackpot ideas..........again, now it seems they think its a good idea to tax the wealthy..................mmmmm yes, tax the hell out of the only people who are still spending their money, since the exellent idea of cutting interest rates has squeezed savers and the retired who were subsidising their piss poor pension with the interest on those savings, i could moan about this all day but i will spare you all

You know, I've been thinking about it, and still can't work out where they got the idea that anyone whos running around in a 10+ year old car (unless by choice, like us), can actually afford to buy, or would want to be lumbered with a new car, 2 grand off or not...

I think this government has simply gone so far off the rails they should open the asylum doors for them right now. Since when, if you got into trouble by being in debt, was the answer to load a mountain of extra debt on top ?! We've never had such a sustained attack on our civil liberties and privacy and it's a wonder they haven't all fallen into the trough completely, their snouts are so far into it. This car scheme is just one more example of badly considered, inequitable, knee jerk nonsense.

It does worry me that they have made what could have been a bit of a tight spot into a potential nightmare by trying to "save the economy", the government should not have saved any banks, it hasnt got them lending and it will not do so no matter how much money you pump in, then there is the new sceme to help first time buyers onto the property ladder to try and jump start the housing market, which it wont, and this latest scam, sorry, scheme to jump start a car buying frenzy even though there is no one left in a position to buy a new car, and even if there was they are targeting the wrong people. Daft, yes.
The problem is we are no longer riding the crest of a wave on a golden surfboard, its over, untill the next boom, why cant they just accept it and let it be before they cause really big trouble.

It seems at the moment they are screwing the rich, pensioners, savers and anyone else who has seen it all before and were sensible, and is trying to help an over grown banking system, housing market and car industry and will do anything for those who ploughed themself into dept thinking it would all last forever, like the governement did

Lets be honest, no amount of hair brained, desperation inspired schemes is going to kickstart or save anything

The only way that this is of any use is, wait for it, (not everyone's cup of tea) but "scrap your banger" get your 2k discount, buy a diesel Fiat panda, run it on red diesel for 3 years, and sell it for more or less the same price you paid for it including the scrappage discount! Cheap motoring.

1 major problem with this scheme, having to buy and drive a Fiat Panda Diesel.
