510k miles and still looking good

Post by CitriXM » Sun Dec 21, 2014 10:54 am

820000 km/510000 miles pretty incredible, suddenly 220000 km/137000 miles on my car doesn't seem that much

Yes, I agree, a marvellous achievement, and to look so fresh. I wonder after all the effort expended in keeping it in such fine fettle with all that mileage, what on this planet could possibly replace it, a younger one perhaps ?

ps, having put the blurb trough Google translate, it has been garaged for a while and does have a few minor issues.

I think he's swapped it for a Jag S type, not sure if but I reckon the old one. Like old old one from the sixties or so. He doesn't drive a lot anymore.
I would not worry driving that car for few more 100K.

I've driven an XM with 550,000 kilometers on and seen another with 460,000 miles.

It does look good for the mileage. I have had a couple on 300k and they weren't to bad bodily but mechanically they were excellent, except the clutch was starting to slip on one, still fine if you didn't push it though, I believe it was the original, so yes, I think 500k is quite attainable.

My Xantia HDi is short of 300,000 MILES and still does not use any oil or water!

I plan to buy it back in a few years when shes well into 300,000 miles!!! And will with no hesitation. The current owner will change the oil every 6 k !!!

I did it every 12.5k

There's no flies on you is there?

Point being all the cooing and eye watering admiration for a diesel with 500k miles on it and there's load of engines, diesel and petrol, with a hell of a lot more miles on them.
