Guys, just looking at the 2.1td xm that Paul is going to be selling soon, I couldn't help noticing that the expansion tank overflow pipe is routed differently than mine.

By comparison:

The other one=

Ive looked through brochures I have and cant find a picture showing the correct routing of this pipe....Can anyone clarify this at all?

Yours is correct. Down the chassis rail, held by a clip.

also Vince the second picy the pipe is held the the pump/bracket by a cable tie, the obviously look wrong/not as neat/tidy as yours,

it dose not look like it grew there :) ;)

Maybe not original, but black pipe would look better?

They use clear pipe for a reason. So you can see if there is water in it.

Really? When would that happen, then?
(2.5 overflow pipe is black.)

To be honest I've always preferred clear piping anyway, for that exact reason, you can see inside it. I had an old TD passat which had running problems. It was only due to the clear fuel delivery lines to the pump that I traced the problem as you could see air bubbles being introduced when I messed with the fuel filter housing.

It would dump coolant if overfilled or it over heated in my amateur opinion :)

That said, black piping would look alot neater ;) I'll stick with factory look though for mine.

It was the neatness I was thinking of.

2.5 td setups are different and I believe their pipes for whatever reason, are black from the factory.
