Just found this.

Rather long and rather a lot to say about tyres, but some interesting observations.
Wonder who the author was?

His fuel economy seems rather poor, compared to my experience with ES9 engined Xantias and XMs, I suspect that his recollection of the relative fuel economy of his previous PRV engined car is tinted with rose coloured spectacles.
I have BTW, driven 800 km (500 miles) on a tank in my ES9 XM and still had an indicated range of a further 100 km. I know I could get better cruising at less than 135 km/h.

Know that feeling well. Spain has announced that it will lift sections of its non-urban Autovia limit to 130km/h, but no sign of that actually happening yet. A visit to France planned for next year, so maybe a chance to put that right.

I think there are bits that are written with a rose tinted view, in some instances a little misguided information, mk2 cars having central spheres and the ability to correct body roll for instance, I think not.
Saying it rides better than a BX, well yes I've owned both long term and I would go with that to a degree but better than a CX or DS? In terms of comfort from isolation from the road surface no, not at all. In terms of and all round package I would say although the XM suffers on broken surfaces it is an all round better balance of handling and comfort but that's just my opinion.
In any case it is good press for the car if a little too flattering to the point of maybe being being viewed as biased.
