I think I saw something like this as an immobiliser key some years ago.

That would be my guess, an early doors immobiliser.

It is indeed a 1980's immobiliser.
The 3.5mm three way plug has a basic circuit in the black tag.
Ditch it quick!!!

Thanks chaps! It came as part of a centre console switch holder that I acquired, the wires had already been cut but didn't want to throw it away unless it was useful.
