Just watched this, currently on iPlayer:
BBC Four "Timeshift" Series 15 3: The Engine that Powers the World"
Traces history of Rudolf Diesel's invention, from early days to present.
Features Citroen Rosalie, Ricardo, Delphi, Deltic, road/rail/marine.
Gentle acknowledgment of current environmental issues.
Great detail, and worth watching.

Wish I had seen that. There are a lot of video's on youtube which are very interesting. I have been playing with diesels since 1959 when I bought a Perkins conversion kit fo a Vauxhall Velox. Have done about a dozen conversions over the years but stopped doing them after I drove my first CX diesel - you couldn't compete with that. They have changed a lot since I did my first one.

Hi Peter,
Can't see the complete programme on YouTube, but four clips from it are there:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWU7OXk8eKo - and three others.
Whole programme on BBC iPlayer, if you look for it there.
Can't beat the smell of warm diesel first thing in the morning

Thanks for that Chris
The old diesels used to smell lovely when you first started them up, a lovely sweet smell, unlike cold petrol exhaust which could take the skin off your throat

Stuff on iPlayer tends to expire after a month or so. Quite annoying when you haven't got around to watching something yet.
Sounds like a great show Chris, must look out for it coming round again.

Worth also searching on YouTube for "BBC Timeshift" and "BBC Timeshift Citroen" - lots of other great documetaries.
