Italian spots!

We have just returned from a short break in Tuscany and I thought I would share a selection of my photos showing a small number of older cars, plus a goodly number of nice Alfas, Fiats (especially Pandas), and interestingly also current Lancias, which seem quite a quirky and well designed car and sadly not seen on these shores! Our hire car was a 1-2 year old Fiat 500L, whose best feature was light steering, although the seats were uncomfortable, visibility very poor, and diesel engine a bit feeble. Over around 300-400 miles and while visiting two large cities and numerous towns and some motorway driving amongst Citroens I noted two C6, two Xantia and a few other current models, including the odd Cactus, but disappointingly not a single BX or XM!! With regards, Matthew T.

Love the Twingo in lime! :?
And whatever that is third from last (grey, EH.....) - someone actually put some thought into the rear-end design; rear lights a nice touch!

Thanks Chris and the third from last car is a Lancia Jetta with rear lights a tiny bit similar to the C6! Here is a link to some other photos https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=lanci ... AiQQsAQIGw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...And looking at the little white (? Fiat) Commune car, it reminded me of this...
DSCF1424.JPG
...the then Mayor's car :roll: from the small village of Salares, a few km from here.
Most of the local villages now sport one of a job lot of white Suzuki 2.0 Vitara's, courtesy of the regional government.

Always wanted to drive to Tuscany, but never managed it. The northern Lakes (returning via Stelvio pass) and Venice is as far as we got. Maybe, one day.

The white car is a Fiat Panda Chris that were very popular here in the late 1980 - early 1990s and there are still a lot around in Italy!! I liked your picture of the R4 that matches the one my parents had around 1970 and we also saw a few on our trip. I would certainly recommend Tuscany that is a really beautiful region, although you might prefer the Autumn as temperatures are now around 34C! With regards, Matthew T.

It looks very nice. I could stomach 34c when not doing much...

It's not hard to see why Italian cars had poor rust protection.
