Gardening.

Post by Dieselman » Tue Oct 11, 2016 8:17 pm

I loathe gardening, but sometimes something just has to be done.
We have a conifer that was bought specifically as a dwarf conifer, apparently it wouldn't grow over 6' tall.

It has grown to 18' tall with three stout trunks and some very big roots so far, so it was time for action.

Digging down revealed some very healthy, deep roots, one was 6 inches diameter. I thought I was never going to get this thing down, but fortunately a neighbour said "Do you wasnt to borrow my axe?"

A quick axe attack and a bit of external pursuasion soon had it flatlining.

Now you know why I like diesels... Pulling power.

I have a cherry tree that was planted about 25 years ago, it was quite large then, given to me by someone who was moving, its now about 35' high and about 18" across at the bottom. We have never had a cherry from it as the birds queue up as soon as they start getting ripe.

Its blocking out the light and has also grown up through my ham radio aerial so I'm afraid I shall be taking a chain saw to it as soon as all the leaves have fallen off, on the plus side it should keep me in logs next winter.

I am not sure that is strictly true Paul from some of the recent issues Russ and others have experienced and the PRV is quite a simple brute really! I acknowledge that my V6 auto is running close with the recent transmission issues and perhaps I should just stick with manuals!! Regards, Matthew T.

I don't know, headgasket going on a 172k mile car is fair enough. I forgive it for that.
Other issues mine has had is purely down to age and milage. All to be expected to be honest.

I like the Diesel engine.. more French! :D ..what they all drive....

But the V6 song is just addictive.

If I recall, a tractor had no trouble catching and passing a certain V6 at Milton Keynes recently... ;) :D.
