I have just checked photos of my original 1995 reg. 2.0i turbo ct vsx and interestingly that did not have any units at all, just 0, 1/2 and 1! I am guessing that all S2 cars have the same arrangement! Regards, Matthew T. PS. Sorry the photo is a bit small!

Definitely coincides with the dash clock redesign. I have only seen this design on mk2 cars.

The change was July 1994 for the 1995 MY Mk2 range.
This is the first time all XM's has a common fuel gauge marking.
It seems there are three different variants.
I checked through a few owners manuals.
All UK Mk1's had 0/8/17 fuel gauges.
French and Dutch Mk1's were marked 0/40/80.
