My latest acquisition

I'd like to introduce Percy the Peugeot 104....

We had a very exciting 4.5 hour trip back from Peterborough yesterday, he fought me most of the way but by sheer luck we arrived home in 1 piece.

Wow Ray that is a real piece of 80's retro and not something you say on the road much now! I wonder what your plans are for Percy! With regards, Matthew T.

Yep, sounds like a 104, remember being dumped with fuel starvation up the M6 in the 1980's. Our last one managed to hole a piston!

Happy days :D

Yep.... seems like a fuel starvation problem here too.... it'll run great but stall when stopped... or it will tick over nicely and misfire like a bugger on the move!

I own its twin brother.....same colour and same SR spec I presume. I had problems with mine lately and replaced all usual suspects. Petrol pump, coil, dizzy cap, rotor arm, condenser and points. Had to go several times to get a descent set of points which seemed to be the problem.
Then I had intermittent carb problems so cleaned carb and blew out all jets and now it's running perfect. I think you should clean the carb and if that doesn't work then do the points. To do the points you remove the distributor but it's a good idea to mark the correct timing position before you remove it.

Our problem was blocked fuel lines/filter and associated crud in the carb. Took a good deal of clearing.

Thanks, when the weather improves I'll have a good look round it, I got it ticking over today on a little choke. When I was trying to get it running at the motorway services last night I noticed the clear fuel filter was empty, today it was almost full, but it was weeping so I've removed it fed the fuel line directly to the carb so I can keep turning it over.
