Thanks Andy and Ray and yes Andy the German car is gloss black like yours. The finish is quite good as she had some new paint both sides where small dents were removed and a machine polish! Regards, Matthew T.

Just to report that I partially removed the clutch cable and lubricated at each end and the driving experience is transformed! It was necessary to jack the engine and remove the offside sphere for access and disconnection and reconnection at the pedal is a pig of a job! The clutch action had always been quite stiff and a strange earlier mod that I discovered and removed involving a metal spring crudely fixed between the engine bulkhead pivot and adjacent engine block will not have helped matters. In digging out the clutch cable at the gearbox end I must have disturbed some wiring as the engine light is now coming on with the fault code 64 'mixture adjustment rear bank' and I wondered if anyone knew exactly what that might mean! Regards, Matthew T.

Just wondering whether there is any scope for being able to fit an oiling nipple somewhere accessible along the length of the cable, Matt?
Stiff cables seem to get reported fairly often.

Access to the cable on the S1 V6 is rather limited Chris but that is an interesting idea! In my case I am not sure if it was the lubrication or removal of the weird spring mod that did the trick - maybe a combination of the two! With regards, Matthew T.

Regulation of richness from rear lambda sensor.
See relative tests for codes 52 and 36.
Code 52 is the same fault from the front lambda sensor where the full tests are listed.
Code 36 is lambda sensor heating (900) on ECU housing.

Many thanks that is helpful John and I had wondered if it might be a lambda sensor wire! With regards, Matthew T.
