Yet another one who has no idea what the value of his car is . . .

until he's made an offer which he says isn't enough.

Thanks for the sarcasm, much needed hey ;)

I know how much I paid for it and for how much similar cars can go for, but it's hard for me to determine a realistic price, given that a £1.5k figure is basically the scrap value of the car years ago plus the work done to it. So I am not saying no to 1.5k, I am saying no to suggesting that that's it's top figure otherwise read the previous comments.

That's not sarcasm, that's honesty. Sarcasm is a completely different level of enjoyment! :D

lol fair enough. In any case I was against the rationale behind that number as a top value not the range of price itself.

It looks like a friend of ours who is borrowing the jag at the moment may keep it which would be great and a near miss for the xm, we shall see!

I wonder what Personal Value Dieselman would place on his Manderin 2.1, not the figue that would be required to persuad him to hand the keys over in an out of the blue offer, im talking about the figure that you would feel happy letting the car go for if you found yourself in the position of having to sell it.

I honestly can't answer that. The problem isn't just that is cost a value to buy and has xx spent on it. It has also cost a lot in my labour, but even that isn't the issue.

The issue is that if I sold it, I couldn't get another one. I suspect there won't be many UK Series1 XM changing hands in the near future, they have become keepers.

I agree Will, and I think selling a car because you must makes you value it more than if your bored of it and want to get rid of it.
Replacing your car would be impossible I would think, or certainly very, very difficult.

S1s are most certainly a lot lot thinner on the ground lately. A few years ago there were often one or two a week on ebay for 100 to 200 quid a time. I dont think id find one now forca couple hundred quid now..
