S1 vs S2

Hi guys. I have a very good 1992 2.0i Prestige Auto. A 1997 2.0i Manual has come up for sale with a broken timing belt here in Ireland. Would it be worth my while buying it for parts or is there a lot of parts not compatible. Would the gearbox fit if I decided to change my own to manual at some stage. Thanks in advance for your help.

The gearbox might be the same if its not a TCT but the engines will be totally different, chances are its a TCT (turbocharged version of your engine) but if it is normally aspirated it will be a 16v motor and totally different engine to the one you have in your prestige.

Tct still sold in 1997? Thought it had been binned by then..
