German jaunt!!

Post by MTXM » Tue Jul 25, 2017 8:25 pm

Just enjoyed watching this and thought why cannot we have a few more similar jollies!

The XM certainly does seem to have a strong following in Germany and also in Holland.

Or this nice record of Citromobile earlier this year for those who could not attend:

Some interesting XM moments around 4.30 min.

Found Hartkirchen, east of Munich, not a long way from the Austrian border.
Looked like a one-day trek, in very British weather.
Liked the grey XM with registration LL MUKI 1 !
Good to see a Multimedia on the road - what a colour!

Makes a good alternative to a static meet somewhere.

That makes sense Chris as there is a very strong German/Austrian XM club. I wonder how many people would be interested in attending a similar future summer event here in the UK, somewhere fairly scenic and central like Derbyshire? Regards, Matthew T.

I have just realised that this was a 25th anniversary meet as we had the Cosford event. Regards, Matthew T.

I like the idea of a rally run. Hpn Citroens are at their best when on the move (or should be!), and what better than to enjoy some great scenery and a location or two?

September's NC500 is all of that, par excellence, but a one-week commitment - which is why were are, right now, only two takers (and six maybees). Davie and I hope some others will join us, of course.

One-day runs would, I'm sure, be really popular.

I think location is a key factor Chris, in addition to time of year and duration. The Derbyshire Dales are pretty much in the middle of the UK and very beautiful and varied including Buxton for example.

Perhaps a single day of driving with lunch stop and suggested overnight accommodation? We definitely have to do something for the XM30th in 2019, but what does everyone else think?

Matthew T.

Over at the 480 Club we did a mobile meet. A few of us met up for breakfast near Northampton and headed north via nice places and roads to Yorkshire. This meant that we could pick people up on the way and some could only come for a short time as we passed near their home. We had lunch and evening meal together.

It was a huge success and everyone was delighted. 480 numbers are miniscule now.

I can recommend it highly if you fancy giving it a go.
