The frenchcarforum server went offline overnight.
There was a major outage at our hosting company last night.
At around midnight the hardware node that hosts our forum (and many other web-servers) suffered a failure (software only I believe) that needed a hard reset to recover. The recovery was delayed for about 2 hours because there were some problems with the disk file system.
Unfortunately after the support team thought that they had brought everything back up, they missed our VPS, and it was totally dead, not even the recovery console was responding. After raising another support ticket with them, they have done something that has got it going again.
The timing of this was unfortunate, because we were due to be moved to a different hardware node last week, and if that had happened on schedule, this outage would not have affected us at all. I am still expecting a brief outage one morning next week when we are moved to the new hardware node.
It all seems OK now.

Re: FCF now back on-line
No, nothing was lost.
There was a second (semi-planned) outage last night when the VPS was moved to a new hardware node, which seems to have fixed some disk speed and networking issues.
All looking good again now.

Re: FCF off-line - AGAIN
The FCF server has gone off-line again. A different problem, but it is not likely to be back for several hours, perhaps longer.

Re: FCF off-line - AGAIN
I have had confirmation that the FCF server disk is corrupted and everything must be reinstalled, so it will be off-line for a few more hours (all going well).
