L' Xagone Citroen Challenge 2019

Post by MTXM » Mon May 14, 2018 2:27 pm

This is just to sound out interest as I am hoping to attend the event next year and now looking for one or possibly two companions! The driving holiday around the circumference of France is being organized by the brilliant Phil Chidlow of CCC X and Chevron rally fame will take place between Thursday 17th and Tuesday 28th October 2019 (excluding crossings). I participated in the 2015 and 2017 trips very ably assisted by Russ Wallis (15) and Steve Delasal (17) and both were brilliant experiences. The 2019 Challenge is basically a re-run of the original BXagone and like the original will endeavour to raise funds for worthy causes. Around 2,500-3,000 miles are expected to be covered and depending on the numbers involved, type of accommodation booked and catering I would expect to budget around £1,500. At this stage I also attach a crude route map that I have prepared, based on Phil's itinerary and the main journey way-points. Please do let me know if you are interested and/or have any queries. With regards, Matthew T.

Although not exactly overwhelmed with enquiries after my original post, I just wanted to check if anyone plans to attend the Citroen 100th between 19th-21st July 2019 at La Ferté-Vidame in Perche, France? The location is roughly midway between Paris and Le Mans. With regards, Matthew T.

Myself and my wife are planning to take part in the Citroen 100 Matthew. As you know we are completely new to the Citroen community, but extremely well known in the Saab world, attending many events on the continent. We are very much looking forward to being a part of the Citroen community as we are with Saab.

That is great news Alex and at least there will be the three of us at the 100 in July. It will be a once in a lifetime event for all things Citroen! With regards, Matthew T.

Hi Matthew

Yes we’re planning to go to the 100th celebration, suspect it’ll be a major magnet for all Citroen folk.

Cheers

Hi

I may well be interested in attending both events IF my car is ready by then.

Hi Marc and Peter,
Many thanks for your responses and it will be good to meet at the 100th, although I am still looking for companions for the trip around France!
With regards,
Matthew T.

Just a quick update to confirm that Alex and I are both now separately booked for the 100th next July with at least two other XM to join our convoy from Le Havre! It is also possible that Russ may attend and I am still hoping to find at least one passenger to share the experience and cover costs if anyone is interested. The entrance to the three day event including four nights camping is a modest 125E and the Portsmouth crossing may be around £250. Here is a link to the website for further info and please do get in touch http://en.citroencc.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; With regards, Matthew T. PS. Hopefully Ciaran is still up for the Challenge in October!
