I've lost focus on this timeline project recently, so need to blow the dust off it.
Rather a lot going on here at the moment. No excuse, I know.

Certainly a late one.
Curiously cold and antiseptic in its bright silver and black leather, and lacking the warmth of some of the other colours.

Reminds me of the 1977 Rover P6 2200 Auto, which turned up on a trailer at a 1988 25th P6 anniversary get-together in London - the Ally Pally Rally. We had 450 P6's there, along with Spen King and David Bache, and many of the Solihull crew. The 2200 arrived on a recovery vehicle, and boasting a genuine 21 miles on the clock! The original Radiomobile radio and aerial were in the boot (for dealer fitment), along with various bits of delivery documentation.

How did this happen - 21 miles in 11 years? Old man promises himself the latest Rover. Orders it, dealer delivers it, but manages to badly damage the bonnet during delivery. Seven miles from dealer to customer. Customer rejects it, and it is driven back to the dealer (7 miles) for a brand new factory bonnet to be fitted. New bonnet fitted, and driven back to customer - another 7 miles.

Then, ageing customer becomes ill, takes to his bed, and car languishes in his garage. Finally, 11 years later, family decide to dispose of the car. Asking price i.r.o. £3000. In 1988, a 2200 Auto would command a few hundred only. No takers.

Why not?
1. Value resided solely in the low mileage. So what happens if buyer chooses to drive it?
2. Body colour was Avocado, with Mango cloth interior. Not a happy (SD1 livery) combination!

At the end of the rally, the car went back to Norfolk, and we heard no more about it.

My Xm is the same colour and has the same wheels - but lacks sunroof, heated seats and headlight washers. Despite that the Australian list price was $80,000!!! My car was built 9 days earlier, but 1st registered almost 6 months later - may well be the last one registered in Australia.

I agree about the colour - I would much prefer to have Mandarin or Onyx. Don't miss the sunroof at all, but heated seats would have been nice. Love the radio channel being displayed on the LCD panel - I wonder if I would be able to get a stereo that could be wired to do that! On the other hand, I have the flip-down panel that hides the radio. I presume the twin tail pipes was standard for the V6?

I had the radio channel and CD info displaying on the LH display for a few months, after replacing the dying Philips radio with another the same, and managed to find a suitable later LH display. All good until the second Philips radio went on the blink too. At that point decided to fit a new Sony head unit (with single CD), so lost the audio display, but was able to convert the steering wheel controls to operate it (written up here, with instructions for Sony or Pioneer). Win some, lose some.

My steering wheel controls do work...

The web page says - Taxed and tested until April 2007

So its probably been that long!

I recall that car now.
A healthy price for a Cat C.
The reg is no longer valid, so it's either changed reg, or been scrapped.

I think that car may still be in circulation with a private plate. In about 2012 there was one that colour that was claimed to be the last RHD V6 made, owned by an associate or family member of BL Autos.

When Citroen started cost reduction?
I had XM 95 and now 97 and see differences. New one is louder, soundproofing is more thin, reduced silicone trim, worse anticorosion.
