It's not you that needs to get hold of the appropriate parts (rockers???), but the garage.
If you source the parts yourself, and the problem persists or reappears, then they can always blame the fault on parts that they haven't supplied.
No, they should be returning the car to working condition, and providing all parts and labour themselves. That way, the quality of the job is totally down to them, with no wriggle room.

Alternatively, they may want to provide you with a cash offer for the car, as is, so you can move on. Room for negotiation there, perhaps.

And theres the get out of jail card, the response will be We cant get the parts anymore...

Annoyingly Id have them as ive a few 2.1td heads about, so ID be able to supply the rocker finger, but unfortunally with my current state Im not in a position to goto the store or container to retrive the rocker fingers...

I can talk you step by step on dooing the repair as my brain still works well, but the rest of me isnt so good..

The sticking point is going to be who's decision was it to re-use the worn belt?
If it was the garages then the liability falls on them, if Woodie asked for it to be re-used, then it is his liability.

Thanks for all the replies guys, been away on holiday so have left it for a while... The garage thing is going to be a no go i think for too many reasons even though it is totally their fault... So that aside i am left with options, scrap her or sell her, or get her repaired if anyone can help with the latter please let me know... Alternatively if anyone wants her please again let me know

I wish I hadn't fallen ill this year... so annoying to me the main engine repair isnt to bad a job..

I do hope you get her repaired. Bear in mind. The money you may lay to buy another car you could buy with unknown issues where the car you have you know and may be worth the investment.. but its finding someone who knows the engines and knows it will only need rocker fingers replacing.. then looking at why the aux belt did what it did.

They are designed to be a weak link, along with the rocker fingers.

I guess no compression test, or cylinder leak down test, has been done. There is a small chance that valves have been bent.
