Nope.. valves do not bend Will.. they are designed not to and they simply break the.rocker fingers.. I've seen to three in my time now and none had valve damage..

Ahh the later poorer cheaper pully.. earlier pulleys had a lot more metal in their construction.. and I think stronger.. they are comparable with later engines..

Maybe they changed the design to break easily as diesel man said, but beside that has anyone got one ?

I think it was cost reducing.. less metal cheaper to make.. I'd have one yes but currently cant get to my stock due to current health issues.

We are trying to contact a few people to source parts for you.

Forum member LWdajo has a late 2.1 being broken.
The car is at Chevronics, so you would need to make some arrangement regarding having the parts removed.
Make contact with LWdajo

Another possible source of parts might be Malcolm Orme at Savoy Garage in Lancashire. He has done lots of engine work on 2.1 and may have bits spare.

I dont think savoy carry spares.. tends to get them in as and when or usually asks me... but still could be worth an ask..

Frustrating as I have the bits but cant do any more then this to help..

Gee, that is shit news.

As a garage owner for 30 years, I agree with all that has been said. To be honest, the belt probably was put on incorrectly, with one of the multi ribs not on the pulley. The belt then shreds & unwinds & does exactly as yours has done..I know, as it has happened to me on a Mitsubishi V6. No one else to blame but me. It is very easy to do with limited access & the clock ticking on you..I "wore" the total job, but mine was far more involved with 12 bent valves ..You live & learn!

The worst part about it was that it was my Ex wifes car!!!!
