You can see it to the right on the above picture.

Two for one entry into the house and gardens on production of a CCC Membership card too... ;)

Robert.

Will you be in the Peugeot HDi, if so I might have some info for you regarding the EGR delete and fooling the ECU. Have a look if it's electric or Vacuum operated.

I'm in two minds whether to bring my sphere tester. Is anyone interested in testing spheres, if not I won't bother.

Hi Will,

I am coming in the Pug. I have already blanked the egr valves on this car (estate now) and the old coupe. The land rover and jaguar specialists sell nice banking kits for the 2.7. On the coupe I had much less engine management lights post mod, it was quicker and more economical. No lights so far (2.5k) on the estate since blanking and it has stopped going into limp when it is caned to the red line. Lexiang both cars showed different egr faults. I was thinking about flashing the egr part off the ecu on the coupe, but the egr warning light didn't come on much and was quick to clear.

I read about you blanking the EGR pipe with the metal blanks, hence my query.

The EGR valve operation is monitored by the MAF sensor, so a simple mod may be all that's required.

Yes, its very popular with jaguar and land rover owners. No mention of egr blanking on the c6 forums, or indeed the French Citroen forums I look at the odd time.

No problem Vince, I have old plumbing books here that explains how to make wiped joints on lead pipes in exquisite detail.

Many, many years ago when dad still had all the kit I had a go. It's great fun and very satisfying...

Trouble is, your local DIY place won't stock all you need, like sticks of plumbers solder, a ladle, splash-sticks, wiping cloths, lamp-black and tallow.

But yes, not something to go anywhere near unless you have all the kit and skill as whoever replaces the stop cock will need to make wiped joints to the original lead either side of it.

Vintage plumbing is of great interest to me...
Vince Take no notice of Jim's advice with all that old fashion rubbish

I had the same problem to fix many years ago at my mothers premises which is when I found about the 'Lead-loc' fittings , the only thing you need to be aware of is that many years ago that lead piping normally came two weight/classes which relate to the bore and wall thickness as you need to 'Spoke-shave' the outer surface of the old lead pipe to make a 'snug-fit' of the 'Lead-loc' fitting so if you went to a good local plumbers merchant and get one of each size to be sure you have the correct to hand (with the understanding that the fitting which is not used you can get a refund on) !

If that was possibly you'd need a 3/8" 5lb x 15mm and 1/2" 7lb x 15mm, here a link to an E-BAY seller's listing so as you understand what you need to ask for however they can be a cheap as £4.98 if you were sure of which weight/class your existing lead pipe was coming into the property :?

As these are compression fittings no 'Special tools or soldering' is required and once you 'Lead-loc' fitting is in situ' presumably with a 15mm O/Dia. outlet (As you can go up to 22mm O/Dia.) then you just fit a small length of 15mm O/Dia pipe and fit your new stop-valve to that and then connect it into the existing cold feed to the rest of the property with new 15mm O/Dia. copper pipe ;)

Heres a You-tube Video on 'How to' as to give the confidence to DIY and NOT call the expensive plumber out (Which will only do the same type of job I suspect) ?

So there you have it Vince, you've NO excuse NOT to go to the 'X' rally now, having just saved you at least £100 :o

Excellent stuff :D Those fitting do make it a nice easy job by the looks of it...

What a forum. Not only can it keep your XM good but it also advises with plumbing problems too. Brilliant!
