Are any of you fine XMers going to the CCC National Rally this weekend?

I'll be there, most likely Saturday but possibly Sunday as well in my White S1TCT

Looking forward to seeing lots of lovely Citroens and meeting a few of their owners :)

I’ll be there (despite the forecast) in the S1 Prestige MOT’d especially for the occasion.

Sorry, my plans to attend have been dashed due to my partner's mother being admitted to hospital a few days ago and surgery planned for today.

Morning All,

After meeting some of you last weekend at the National I finally thought it was time to break cover! :D It was great meeting you all on Sunday, some for the first time.

Well done to Citjon for clinching the concours, very well deserved, as his 2.0i low mileage base model was a joy to look around. It even had the early type old cotton wiring loom wrap still in one piece, correctly routed, which I was very envious of!

Thanks to Dieselman for checking my Hydractive fault codes, luckily not too many, and also for explaining and describing some of the finer points of XM ownership! It was great fun to have a chat.

I went in my everyday 2.0ltr black S1 Auto, which was put back on the road 3 years ago after being in storage for 21years! Plus, I was hoping to take my Emerald Green 24v that had just gone through its first MOT in 16years. (Adie Pease of DS fame was my second driver)

However, the 24v unfortunately broke down 3 miles into the journey! :x The failure turned out to be that I had run out of fuel (slightly embarrassing)... Diagnostics wasn't helped though by a faulty fuel gauge reading a 1/4 of a tank, (that had be repaired a couple of days previously) and an MOT station that told me that they had put 20ltrs of fuel in it..... It was more like 10ltrs.

Anyway, more on the 24v on a different post. I'll pick up the '24v found in Norfolk' post that was started by MTXM and Sageman back in late 2019 early 2020.

All the best and hopefully I will get the chance to be more vocal on here in the future,

Paul

Good to hear your news, and you obviously enjoyed Rally day.
Faulty gauge on a 3.0 is no joke, I guess. What a way to 'break down' !

The cars have both spent a lot of time 'resting', so good to get them back on the road.

As a newcomer to the forum it was great to meet up with some of the old stalwarts and have the benefit of their knowledge.

I'm not sure how I managed to win the 'concours' as there was some very worthy competition. Maybe their wiring looms weren't quite up to scratch!

It's good to hear it was a simple fault on the 24v Paul, hopefully it will make an appearance at another meeting. I look forward to seeing further updates on the other post.

My car is definitely going better the more I use it, the next run out will be the D Rally all being well.

Jon

Fluid Citroens thrive on being regularly driven, and the diesels driven hard.
Can be quite a worrying to get into one that has been laid up, and find it more than a tad sluggish.
