Excellent Matthew, well done. I'm sure more than 25 will turn up, would be great if we did get some foreign XMs visiting. great idea. Looking forward to this.

It would be quite good fun to organise a big international XM rally one day. Maybe for the 30th anniversary! :D ;)

Thanks Russ and I also like the idea of an XM International Meet in 2019! In my posts to the other XM Clubs abroad I asked whether any similar event are planned elsewhere and I will keep all you posted! With regards, Matthew T.

I have just heard back from the XM IG Austria, who by an extraordinary co-incidence have an event planned themselves on 20th September!! The Austrian Group celebration is just one day, but with an impressive programme that includes visiting a ruined castle, a Citroen Dealer repair workshop, and an evening meal at a country inn with local beers (see attached) Some food (and drink) for thought there perhaps!! Regards, Matthew T.

The CCC didn't want to know - it's only the 25th anniversary of the XM  - but it's the CX's 40th :D - sod 'em.

I've just been to a pub that could host a weekend event if we want another bash as well. I would need to look into renting a toilet/shower block, but otherwise facilities are all there, field, carpark, food morning and night, beer garden, kids play area...??, river...and of course cask ales... :D

The Landlord is away until the w/e so no further info as yet.

Sounds good to me Will and assuming it is in your area that is quite nice and central and a bit closer to me!! Regards, Matthew T.

I had an unexpected 'yes' from the Cheltenham cricket club, who agreed to hiring out their ground for a future rally. They have proper club house with good facilities, a bar and large amount of space, nestled pretty much in the middle of Cheltenham. It is hidden away, would never know it's there, but actually it's down the road from me!
So whilst there is plenty to do or organise in the surrounding area, proper convoy runs through the Cotswolds lanes for example...the local shops are a stones throw away, B&B's everywhere. You can be in the centre of Cheltenham within 10 min walk for shopping, restaurants or pubs ect. Best thing is, we have an award winning ale shop and local brewery round the corner from the site. I'm wondering if they would be interested in doing something on one of the evenings maybe.

I am just waiting on the costings for hiring the site, but I wouldn't think it could be too expensive. It's not a huge club, and they are used to hiring it out for local events.

Anyway, it's food for thought for future rallies, independent or otherwise. :)

I think that sounds like the perfect alternative venue for forthcoming CXM rallies. Well done Russ. :-)
