Ah, yes the cake..thanks Matthew, it was a nice touch.

We can tell you've owned quite a few Xm from the colours it was sprayed with.

Mandarin, Rouge Magenta, Emerald, White.

Still tasted ok even with those Series 2 colours on...

Well, after a fantastic weekend away at the XM's 25th Birthday Bash I've had a very tired and lethargic Monday.

I set off around 14:00 on Friday from Glasgow and headed to Hunger Hill Farm where I met up with Steve, Russ, and two others I can't remember the name of I'm afraid. Shortly after I arrived, Matthew arrived in his 24v. Friday night was pretty damp with some very heavy fog, despite this though it was a very pleasant evening with everyone being in a great mood and the atmosphere at the campsite was fantastic. Mark and his son also arrived in a very tidy V6 XM on Saturday evening as well.

I set off home at about 17:00 last night and after some awful traffic on the M6 and a quick stop for Petrol I got home at about 21:45. The XM covered a total of 650 miles this weekend without missing a beat :)

Anyway, here's a few pictures I took. Unfortunately I'd turned my camera off automatic and had forgotten so my pictures are nowhere near as good as I wanted them to be :(

That's all for now folks :)

Oh yea... About 20 miles south of Glasgow on the M74 the exhaust on my XM started blowing as well :(

Think it's going to be a trip to get a stainless one made up as it's over a grand from Citroen for a centre and rear section.

David.

Saturday was good but it looks like Sunday was more fun - perhaps the weather helped!

How do you upload images? I couldn't work it out and the help was of no help (if you see what I mean).

I now have a chance to make a more detailed post and what a great weekend!! It was disappointing not to see John M, Dean, Jim and Mark, who are I think were all expected, but many of the regular crowd did attend and some friendly newcomers as well. Unfortunately like Paul I also did not manage to catch Tim, who deserves an especial thanks for his share of the arrangements

As expected Sunday was the busier day with better weather, although numbers on Saturday were still quite respectable and it was dry but overcast. I counted around 22 XMs at the peak on Sunday pm and we had a good variety of models including several early cars and in fact three of the four oldest rhd known. Some highlights for me were the other two PRV V6 12v present and of course seeing Paul's 24v which has been mentioned elsewhere, while both Will and James W tested my car and seemed quite impressed.

The venue although a little far from us in Norfolk was otherwise accessible being close to the M45 and M6 and the RAF Museum was a huge attraction itself. As it happened I did not stray far from the car park since I found plenty of interest through conversations and cars moving in and out. I also appreciated the kind words about my cake that seemed to taste okay despite being a first and I was just sorry that the decoration lost the original crispness! A photo of the finished article is attached for reassurance and those who did not attend.

I would be more than pleased to help arrange such an event again either within the CCC or as an independent affair and I think we marked the anniversary well. Happy Birthday Citroen XM and here's to the next 25 years!!

With regards,

Matthew T.

There were 22 when I counted Paul but the numbers were obviously changing all the time. It is shame we did not get 25 cars in a line together! Regards, Matthew T.

I counted 18 on Saturday, and I think we did get to 25 or 26 on Sunday. I think we should seriously look into doing this again next year, at a different venue.

You are best uploading the pictures onto Photobucket, then copy the links and embed them into your posts on here.

I counted 26 too!

Could we have another Cosford event at some point? I really enjoyed it.
