Those "continental base spec" wheel trims actually also have an earlier place in XM history.
The EPA book of the XM (pages 102/103) in the chapter on XM design shows two photos of "A model of the definitive version of the XM".
That model has those wheel trims.
The plate photo on page 105 shows the model in true perspective.
So forget your alloy wheels and later plastic trims, true XM enthusiasts should have steel and source original trims from France.

I completely agree with you there John, which is why I jumped at the chance to purchase a set on ebay from Chevronics. Here is a photo of the refurbished trims fitted on the Poland car! With regards, Matthew T.

Those trims set the car firmly in the era in which it was conceived and launched, which some of the other trims just don't.
Just keep well clear of scratchy kerbs!

Whilst they look interesting, they do remind me more of a BX wheel trim. They do add that slightly wacky style a Citroen should have though!

The trims are certainly of their time Chris and kerbing could be an issue as you say! Regards, Matthew T.

And that's what makes them.

Love those trims Matthew, just as much as the ones I have on mine. 8-)
